Contests

The William Lowell Putnam Competition is held each December between over 500 universities (and over 3000 students) across North America. Although each university has a team of three, other students are welcome to participate. The Putnam Exam consists of very challenging problems whose solutions are accessible to undergraduate math students. Training sessions are held to practice on problems from previous exams. For further information, contact Prof. Ganong.

The Mathematical Contest in Modeling allows teams from around the world to compete against each other by spending a weekend intensively analyzing a realistic problem in applied mathematics. Training sessions are held to study problems from previous contests. For further information, contact Prof. Heffernan.
